Before finding my purpose, I tried many different paths. I worked at Tim Hortons. Then McDonald’s. I gave my best every single day — energy, excellence, extra effort — but my paycheck never changed. No matter how hard I worked, my income stayed the same. That realization hit me hard.

I went back to school to become a medical receptionist and graduated with flying colors. Yet I never worked in the field. I turned down job offers because the pay and benefits didn’t match my expectations. Looking back, I wish I had done more research before enrolling — that was my lesson.

I considered nursing next. Many of my friends were nurses, and it seemed stable and well-paying. But was it my passion — or just the salary? My husband gently reminded me: nursing comes with rigid schedules. What if we wanted to travel? What if we wanted flexibility? He was thinking long-term. And I knew he was right.

I still felt stuck.

I tried becoming a Personal Support Worker, like many of my Filipino friends. After three months, I knew it wasn’t for me. I was pregnant with our second child, and I felt like I hadn’t found something I could truly call my own.

So I started researching how to earn from home.

In 2017, I launched Blue Sapphire, my vinyl printing and craft supply business. I shipped across Canada, the U.S., and even Mexico. For the first time, I experienced freedom — creativity, flexibility, profit, and time with my family. I felt fulfilled.

But life shifted again. My mother-in-law’s health declined, and I stepped into our family construction business. I learned the systems. I mastered operations. And then… I got restless. I wanted something that could truly grow our assets and create long-term wealth.

I tried becoming a mortgage agent, but it didn’t spark anything in me. Maybe it was lack of passion. Maybe it was lack of guidance.

Then a distant relative from Nova Scotia invited me to become a life insurance advisor. I said no. Repeatedly. For eight months.

Every week she messaged me: “How are you?”
And I knew where the conversation was headed.

Finally, in December 2022 — honestly, out of mild annoyance — I enrolled and got licensed.

But I still didn’t take it seriously… until I attended my first convention in Calgary.

That event changed everything.

I realized this career isn’t just about insurance. It’s about helping families protect what they’ve worked so hard to build. It’s about rebuilding finances, growing wealth, and creating generational stability. It’s about education. Empowerment. Impact.

Today, I am incredibly grateful that I finally said yes.

I never expected how fulfilling it would feel to guide families toward security and confidence. To know that what I do today can protect someone’s tomorrow.

After years of searching, trying, pivoting, and rebuilding…

I can finally say with certainty:

I found my purpose.
